Learning method The most important aspect of learning an instrument is to practice. My role is to guide you in the correct practice techniques and to impart the knowledge that I have regarding the instrument and music that you are learning. You are urged to practice at least 30 minutes every day.
Procedures Please arrive 5 min before your lesson time so you are ready to go. You may come in the front door without knocking and wait in the sitting room until I call for you. If you are late, your lesson time will be shortened accordingly.
Costs Lesson rate is $17.00 per half-hour lesson. Payment is due at the first lesson of the month for the entire month. Any books or materials purchased for you will be additional. Printed handouts will be provided at no cost from time to time.
Absences and schedule You will be allowed 3 excused absences during the school year (September through May) that you will not be charged for if you provide advance notice. You must call me before your lesson time for an absence to be excused. Please give me as much notice as possible. Excused absences allowed are those due to illness, death in the family, family vacation, or mandatory school activity. Any absences beyond these will be charged. I will hand out a schedule for the year indicating the weeks that there will be no lessons.
Music and supplies I will suggest books and supplies based on your lesson course. These will be purchased by you separately. This could include music books, guitar strings, or any other supplies necessary to having the proper tools to learn the instrument.
